The one-cent coin features an Art Nouveau-inspired design by Canadian artist Gustav Hahn (1866-1962), with a bough of maple leaves encircling the commemorative dates “1867-2017”. The five-cent coin by Canadian artist J.E.H. MacDonald (1873-1932) features a crowned lion gripping a maple leaf as it stands perched on a rock, which represents the changing Canadian landscape cradled by the sea; beneath the forepaw is Canada’s motto, “A MARI USQUE AD MARE” (“From Sea to Sea”), while the commemorative dates “1867” and “2017” are inscribed above the lion. A second design by MacDonald graces the reverse of the 25-cent coin, and centres on a soaring view of the iconic Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. The clock tower soars high above the clouds and is surrounded by a ribbon-wrapped laurel of leaves, from which hangs four bells—an ode to the Dominion Carillon, which was inaugurated on July 1, 1927, during the Diamond Jubilee festivities. Each bell bears engraved numbers that combine to form the commemorative dates “2017” and “1867”.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0967/3447/8468/files/3_coin_set__72213.1493698769.1280.1280.png?v=1759533313
2017-legacy-of-the-penny-coin-set-fine-silver-with-rose-gold-plate
2017 LEGACY OF THE PENNY COIN SET - FINE SILVER WITH ROSE GOLD PLATE

Own all of the designs of the penny in one set! In 1911, the ascension of George V to England’s throne necessitated a change in the sovereign effigy on the obverse of Canadian coinage. In 1920, The Royal Mint introduced a new design for the penny, created by Fred Lewis, featuring two maple leaves flanking the words “ONE CENT” beneath the word “CANADA” on the coin’s reverse side. Seeking to modernize the appearance of Canadian coinage, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced G.E. Kruger-Gray’s iconic maple leaf twig design, which remained the penny’s reverse image every year (except 1967) until 2012. To celebrate Canada’s centennial, famed Canadian artist Alex Colville created a special commemorative set of coin designs for 1967. In an effort to make it easier for the visually impaired to distinguish between coin denominations, the shape of the maple leaf twig penny was altered from perfectly round to 12-sided. The round design was reintroduced in 1997 and the penny remained round until its last year of production.

Celebrate the history of the penny with your beautiful 5-coin fine silver set that features original penny designs.

Special features:
• A FIRST! This unique set features all the penny’s reverse designs throughout Canadian history until the penny’s last year in 2012 (including a special design by Alex Colville commemorating Canada’s Centennial in 1967).
• NEW! 5-coin penny set, each 1/10 ounce of fine silver (99.99% pure)!
• Low worldwide mintage of 5,000.
• GST/HST exempt.
• Certificate includes detailed history of the penny.
• Each coin has a 1 cent denomination,2.94 g in weight, with a diameter of 19.1 mm.

Design:
Each coin in your 5-coin set features a design from years past from different artists:
• Small leaves design originally by George W.
